Day 119

As we continue to think about the fact that God continually sees us, let us consider that God sees everything that transpires in your home both night and day. He knows the whys and wherefores concerning all that is done. Ecclesiastes 12:14 says: "For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." The Family Bible Notes comments as follows concerning this verse: "Since God shall bring every secret thing into judgment, vain are all attempts to hide our sins from ourselves, or from our fellow men. To those who repent and believe in Christ, his blood will be a covering, and this covering we all need." Let us keep before us the truth that a time is coming that everything done in secret will be revealed.

Also, God sees everything you look at; your mail, E-Mail, computer searches, web sites and magazines. The All-seeing God is a silent attendee to observe all that you bring before your eyes. This is reason enough to be careful what we read, watch and seek. God is omnipresent and sees all. He sees beneath your actions and weighs your motives and intentions. Hebrews 4: 12 says: "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Barnes NT Commentary says of this verse: "It is to show that we cannot escape the notice of God; that all insincerity, unbelief, hypocrisy, will be detected by him; and that since our hearts are perfectly open before him, we should be sincere, and should not attempt to deceive him. The sense is, that the truth of God is all-penetrating and searching, and that the real thoughts and intents of the heart will be brought to light; and that if there is insincerity and self-deception, there can be no hope of escape."

Our response to this truth is to acknowledge it and repent if we have failed to live according to God's commandments. The really good news is that God is standing with you; so close to see what you look at and to judge your thoughts but He is also so close to hear you repent and seek forgiveness. This really does work both ways. He is only a prayer away and if you want forgiveness and reconciliation, it is yours for the asking! Today, spend some time with God and be honest about what you have been doing. You will be glad you did. Repentance brings cleansing and being clean is a good state to be in.
