Day 78

We saw yesterday that Principle 3 tells us: when trouble comes it doesn't have to overcome you. This is because Jesus said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." What type of peace is Jesus talking about? The 1599 Geneva Bible notes said: "For by 'peace' is meant here that quiet state of mind which is completely contrary to disquietness and great sadness." Notes from The Fourfold Gospel inform us: "Christ's return to the Father and his throne is the Christian's source of peace. As none of the accumulations of evil which came upon Christ prevented him from attaining his goal, so the Christian feels that in the conquering power of Christ, he too shall rise superior to all his troubles, and this feeling brings him peace."

How can you know that His peace is real? You can know it is real by seeing the tribulation. Jesus told you that tribulation would come. Well, has it come? Yes; all of us experience troubles and tribulation at one time or another. If Jesus was right about the tribulation part, why would He not be correct about the "peace" part?

Today, instead of focusing on the tribulation that has come, place your attention on the peace of Jesus. As you go about your day, affirm the following: "I have the peace of Jesus working in my life." Make that your confession and stick to it no matter what comes. If trouble comes, every time you see difficulty, know that it proves the rest of what Jesus said about peace is true. You have just checkmated the enemy.
