Day 33

We are going to continue to look at Old Testament examples of speaking faith filled words with corresponding actions as compared with speaking faithless words with corresponding actions. In Numbers 13, we are told of the twelve spies that were sent into the land that God had promised to give them (Numbers 13:2). As you look at the text, you must keep in mind that these people had a direct promise from God: "Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel...." (verse 2)

Now here is the critical moment; what did they do with God's promise to them? Joshua and Caleb believed God because they looked to His Word as their foundation. The rest of the people denied God's Word instead trusting in their own works as their foundation. They saw that the land had giants and they did not think that they could overcome them (God's Word was not the controlling factor to them; their flesh and their abilities dictated their belief structure). You see that the real issue is who are you going to trust and then what are you going to do about it (corresponding actions)?

Joshua and Caleb ultimately entered the promised land because their faith was their foundation; the others died in the wilderness according to their confession (see Numbers 14:2). So what are you leaning on today (and what are you doing about it)?
