Day 153

In the last few days we have learned that there is a reason to separate and a duty to separate. Today we will see the blessing in separation. 2 Corinthians 6:17(c)-18 says: "I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." What an incredible promise. God Almighty will receive you and make you a part of the family. William Burkitt comments on this verse: "Learn hence, That Almighty God will, as a Father, undoubtedly receive all those into his family and favour who renounce communion with all impurity. As he is Almighty, he is abundantly able, and as he is a Father, he is graciously willing, to recompense all the services and sufferings of his children, for the honour and interest of his name and truth."

Adam Clarke says concerning God's being a Father to you: "I will act towards you as the most affectionate father can act towards his most tender and best beloved child." Notice the theme of a loving protective Father. In this day and age of tremendous evil and danger, is it nice to know that we have a loving, caring Father to watch over and protect us. My natural children all know that their earthly dad will do all he can to love, protect and guide them no matter how big they grow. But much greater still is the love of their Heavenly Father and His desire to love, protect and guide them throughout this life and into eternity.

Today I want you to think about the blessings of separation from those things that displease God. Consider your ways and earnestly seek Him. His Word will guide you into the truth. Then as something is revealed to you through the Word, instantly obey and know that the blessing of being in the family of God is yours.
